I joined polyvore just to appease the poor, deprived fashion whore in me. I'm fully aware of the fact that I probably won't be able to afford a lot of the things I saw that I wanted for a very long time, but I don't care. I've been swimming in the capitalist-consumerist trap for years, anyway.

Featuring: bag by Marc Jacobs, blazer by D&G, button-down by DSquared, shorts and knee-high stockings from Wet Seal, tie by Lanvin, booties by Brian Atwood, wayfarers by Ray-Ban, Extreme for women by Paul Smith, eyeliner from Anna Sui, and soundtrack by Shout Out Louds and This Is Ivy League. How very apt.

Featuring: 'James' tote bag by Botkier, heels by Fendi, sunglasses by Prada, scarf by Christian Lacroix, printed tank by Stella McCartney, basic tank by Alexander Wang, funky brooch by Diesel, and soundtrack provided by Phoenix and MGMT (plus my dream car - the new VW Beetle).</div>

This is Ivy League - London Bridges * Passion Pit - Moth's Wings * Phoenix - 1901 * Feist - Lover's Spit * Lenka - Don't let Me Fall * MGMT - Electric Feel (Justice Remix) * Regina Spektor - Better * We Are Scientists - Hoppipolla (Sigur Ros cover) * Spring Awakening Cast - The Bitch of Living * The Raveonettes - Last Dance Demo * Shout Out Louds - Parents Livingroom

Some random useless trivia I found a while ago: the guy who plays the Beefy Guy in Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist plays Hanschen in the original cast of Spring Awakening.
And yes, friends. The Tony award-winning musical will be shown here in Manilavanilla from September 25 to October 17 this year in the RCBC Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium. The cast includes young Filipino thespians, as well as a Bluerepper (yay!). I cannot wait, seriously. I've already told Cassie and Pam that it is absolutely mandatory that we watch (lest we burn in the flames of broadway hell).

Now, musical theater-geekiness aside, let me rant about the Givenchy Haute Couture F/W 2009 collection. I first saw photos in Jak&Jil, and oh-my-effing-god it took my breath away. I adore avantegarde aesthetics and Riccardo Tisci knows how to work the phantasmagoric elements into each piece and the collection as a whole. Everything reminded me of a surreal, Tarsem Singh-directed film. This particular headpiece caught my attention most:

Doesn't it remind you of Rodrigo Santoro's Xerxes? I love it. Givenchy had the Morroccan/bohemian/Oriental thing down. And my God I'd want to get married in this number (well, except for the trousers part. Just change it into a long flowy skirt with a gorgeous ripped lace train and I'll be happy):

Oh, and I'm sorry but I just couldn't resist. Gareth Pugh is an effing genius. Just look at how those pants flow!

Jesus. Brilliant, I tell you.

I have come to realize that old habits die hard and I can't possibly seem to shake this baby off me. So yes, I have returned to bring it back to life. No more of the giddy trashiness of unfulfilled schoolgirl fantasies and the bleak pathetic qualms of a broken heart. Let's get back to the good stuff - fashion, music, movies, everything that will not equate to me being emo. Which is why this journal is no longer friends only - I've unlocked it (at least most of it), because there's too much I want to write about that I want my friends without LJs to see.
